ILOILO — Iloilo’s young leaders strengthened the province’s standing in youth governance after the Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (PPSK)-Iloilo Province captured the country’s Most Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Council – Pederasyon Level award for the second consecutive year.
The provincial SK federation received the distinction during the 7th Philippine Sangguniang Kabataan Awards 2026 held recently at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
PPSK president and ex-officio Provincial Board Member Esara Aldeguer Javier personally received the award for the federation, which also won the same national recognition in 2025.
“This back-to-back recognition for Iloilo is more than another award. It is a testament to consistent leadership, meaningful collaboration, and a shared commitment to youth empowerment and development,” PPSK-Iloilo Province said in a statement.
The federation said the recognition was not merely a victory for the organization but for every young Ilonggo who dreams of a better future, believes in the power of their voice and aspires to create meaningful change.
It attributed the achievement to youth leaders, partners, volunteers, organizations and young people who worked together, shared ideas and transformed their collective aspirations into action.
PPSK-Iloilo Province stressed that meaningful youth development cannot be built by one organization alone but requires collaboration and a shared vision.
Iloilo’s strong showing at the national awards extended to the barangay level.
The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Jelicuon Montinola in Cabatuan, headed by SK Chairman Jess Fransel Ducasi, was named Most Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Council – Barangay Category.
It also captured the Most Outstanding SK Project – Governance and Civic Participation Category, giving the Cabatuan youth council two major national distinctions.
PPSK-Iloilo Province said the recognitions demonstrated what young leaders can accomplish when public service is anchored in purpose, participation is translated into action and leadership is measured by its impact.
“Your achievement brings pride not only to your barangay and municipality but to the entire Province of Iloilo. May this recognition inspire you to continue building programs that empower the youth, strengthen communities, and leave a lasting mark beyond your term,” PPSK-Iloilo Province told Ducasi.
Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay 3 Poblacion, Igbaras, led by SK Chairman John Romson Erazo, emerged as a national finalist in the Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Award – Project Category.
PPSK-Iloilo Province said the recognition underscored what young leaders can achieve when ideas are transformed into meaningful action and service is driven by genuine commitment to their communities./PN
