ILOILO City – Two suspected “bookies” collectors were caught in Barangay San Jose Ward, Pototan, Iloilo.
Rolly Santisteban, 38, and John Estrada, 37, were detained at the police station of the municipality on Oct. 6.
Pototan police officers caught the two around 8:30 a.m. soliciting bets for “bookies”, an illegal numbers game.
The suspects yielded pieces of paper, a carbon paper, a pen and P1,900 cash in various denominations.
Santisteban and Estrada face charges for violating Republic Act 9287.
If found guilty by the court as illegal gambling collectors or agents, the suspects face “from eight years and one day to 10 years” of imprisonment./PN
