ILOILO City – Western Visayas’ labor office and its partner-agencies will open a One-Stop Service Center for Overseas Filipino Workers (OSSCO) in the region on Oct. 19.
OSSCO will make all government front-line services accessible to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
It is the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) response to the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to establish a one-stop service center to ensure that all requirements needed by the public, especially the OFWs, are conveniently housed in one location.
A total of 15 government agencies compose the OSSCO in Western Visayas:
* Social Security System
* Pag-IBIG
* PhilHealth
* Department of Foreign Affairs
* Overseas Workers Welfare Administration
* Philippine Overseas Employment Administration
* National Bureau of Investigation
* Maritime Industry Authority
* Commission on Higher Education
* Professional Regulation Commission
* Philippine Statists Authority
* Bureau of Immigration
* Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
* Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, and
* DOLE.
DOLE Region 6 officer-in-charge Salome Siaton said the OSSCO will bring relief to the public, especially OFWs who encounter difficulties in availing the services of government agencies, which are situated in different areas in Metro Iloilo, the center of economic activities in the Western Visayas region.
It will also reduce the transportation costs of OFWs and shorten the processing time of their documents. (PNA)
