BACOLOD City – A hacienda worker on Wednesday was nabbed by the Murcia police after he was cornered by students, teachers and residents inside the sugar cane field in Hacienda Puyas, Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia.
Vic Montesa, 32, allegedly dragged a 17- year-old student of Blumentritt National High School inside the sugar cane field when a group of students passed by.
The students followed the suspect and saw him already half-naked while the victim was unconscious.
Montesa sustained hematoma and injuries after he was mauled by the students and residents.
According to Senior Inspector Lawrence Bathan, the suspect was also charged by the family of the victim for attempted homicide three years ago.
The case was settled when the suspect paid around P20,000 for damage cost./PN
