BACOLOD City – The Hospital Operations Department bagged the largest allocation in the 2017 Annual Investment Program (AIP) of Negros Occidental.
The Provincial Development Council approved the P6.815-billion AIP on Tuesday.
The council allotted P2.031 billion for the Hospital Operations Department, P1.392 billion for the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and P1.208 billion for the Office of the Provincial Engineer.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. presided Tuesday’s council meeting at the Social Hall of the provincial capitol.
The provincial government’s 20-percent Development Fund for 2017 (P566.500 million) was also approved.
Of the amount, P205 million has been allotted for the capitol’s loans payment and P361.5 million for programs and projects proposed by departments, divisions and nongovernment organizations.
Described as a “wish list,” the AIP includes the programs, projects and activities the provincial government plans to carry out next year.
The AIP and the Development Fund will be forwarded to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for approval, said Provincial Planning and Development Officer Ma. Lina Sanogal.
Per sector, the AIP may be broken down as follows: economic development, P4.031 billion; environmental development, P84.9 million; infrastructure development, P1.2 billion; social development, P641.8 million; and institutional development, P840 million.
Capitol is also expecting a P2.832-billion Internal Revenue Allotment for 2017. For this year, it received P2.575 billion./PN
