BACOLOD City – Eighteen people who were allegedly involved in illegal gambling were arrested in a raid on Tuesday night on Jalandoni Street, Barangay 2, Victorias City.
The suspects, whose names were withheld, are now detained at the custodial jail of the city’s police station.
Also arrested was the group’s financer, Timothy “Timi” Ticar, a resident of the place.
Superintendent Herman Garbosa said they have received several reports regarding the illegal gambling activities in the area, prompting them to apply for a search warrant from Judge Ana Celeste-Bernardo of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-69 in Silay City.
Illegal gambling paraphernalia and cash amount used as gambling bets were confiscated from the suspects.
The Victorias City police also confiscated a firearm from Ticar’s house during the raid./PN
