MANILA – NBA Developmental League squad Texas Legends has enlisted Kiefer Ravena as part of its development roster for the 2016-2017 season, which will start today.
Ravena’s agent Patty Scott said in an online interview that the Ilonggo guard was part of the Legends team but not on the active roster, unlike fellow UAAP star Bobby Ray Parks Jr. last season.
“Yes, he is (part of the developmental roster),” Scott said. “They have taken great interest in him and will be developing him for this season. He is in the lineup but not in active roster until he’s ready.”
“Hopefully (he can be inserted) for the summer league with the (Dallas) Mavericks in 2017 if all goes well and then back next season with the Legends as a starter and continue the journey to next level,” he added.
Aside from Ravena, a two-time UAAP MVP while playing for the Ateneo Blue Eagles, also in the Dallas Mavericks’ NBA D-League affiliate team Legends’ development roster is David Allen.
The Legends’ opening day roster has Andre Dawkins, Deng Deng, Manny Harris, Patrick Miller, Satnam Singh, Courtney Fells, Kyle Collinsworth, Jaleel Cousins, Bryson Fonville, Keith Honsby, Jameel Warney, and CJ Williams.
Meanwhile, Filipino-American Parks and Isiah Umipig failed to make the final cut with the Westchester Knicks and Maine Red Claws, respectively. Filipino-American Aaron Craft was also not listed on the Salt Lake City Stars lineup despite being traded to the team.
Each NBA D-League squad is allowed to submit a lineup of at least 10 players and reserve three slots for NBA affiliate teams to fill up, plus two more spots for injured and inactive players./PN
