ROXAS City – Doctors are doing charity work for patients at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH).
Specialists are giving free service aside from regular and contractual physicians, according to the hospital officer-in-charge.
“This is only now that seven doctors of different specialized fields are offering services for free,” said Dr. Jose Ascencion Arancillo.
The RMPH has 49 attending physicians who are experts in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, and medicine, among other fields, Arancillo said.
He assured that the RMPH has enough number of doctors.
But the hospital official admitted that some patients may not be immediately attended to sometimes because of their big number.
The RMPH is a 100-bed Level II hospital. It accommodates 275 to 300 patients every day.
To address the “overflow” of patients, the hospital management plans to build a 50-bed facility on the third floor.
Construction will start December. The facility may start taking patients in by middle of 2017.
Meanwhile the Hospital Management Unit led by Melanie Arancillo is pushing for the strict observance of the referral system from infirmary hospitals to the RMPH.
Bailan (Pontevedra) and Mambusao district hospitals are classified Level I, while hospitals in Dao and Tapaz are classified infirmary hospitals.
The Dumarao District Hospital, on the other hand, is an outpatient hospital. (PIA/PN)
