BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental on Wednesday approved Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr.’s request to implement the Salary Standardization Law 4 (SSL 4).
Around P87 million was allotted for the first tranche of salary increase, according to Provincial Board member Salvador Escalante.
“Now the human resources management (department) will prepare the payroll for six months,” he said. “Pwede na ini ma-incorporate sa payroll sa December.”
The salary increase would be retroactive for the later six months of the year.
“If they want the employees to receive [the raise] within the month, five months lang ang i-release, July to November,” Escalante said. “Ang sa December, i-integrate na sa December naman nga payroll.”
The chairman of the committee on finance said the total retroactive pay depends on the employee’s monthly salary.
“Kung mga department heads, more or less P11,000 [ang] increase,” Escalante said. “For entry level, about P1,500. And that will be times five for five months.”
The employees’ 14th-month pay may now be adjusted based on the SSL 4, he said.
Salary savings for this year will be used to augment the amount needs for the salary increase.
“May savings because ang aton plantilla positions 2,800. Amo na ang budgeted. Then 1,600 pa lang ang na-fill up,” said Escalante./PN
