BACOLOD City – Former Felisa barangay captain Mona Dia Jardin was appointed one of the directors of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa).
On the other hand, outgoing director Lorendo Dilag — his present term is expiring on Dec. 31 — was reappointed.
Jardin and Dilag were representing the women and the education sectors, respectively.
They will serve in the Board of Directors for six years starting Jan. 1, 2017, Director David Villanueva told Panay News in a text message on Wednesday.
Jardin replaced outgoing director Ma. Aida Torre, the Baciwa Board chairperson. Torre’s term ends on Dec. 31.
The former barangay captain herself and the Bacolod City Public Information Office confirmed Jardin’s appointment on Wednesday.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia appointed the new directors. Earlier he said the new Baciwa directors must be “sincere in service,” “professional” and “action-oriented,” and should “have a (good) track record.”
Torre was also named one of the three nominees for women sector representative. The other was Dr. Libertad Noledo.
Other nominees for education sector representative were Elizabeth Salabas, Alberto Arceo, Duane Casiano, Rome LA Aujero, and Edmond Guitche.
Leonardia is expected to release a statement on the appointments today./PN
