ILOILO City – The security guard of a pawnshop owned by Vice Mayor Jose Espinsoa III and wife Gina shot their driver last night.
The shooting happened in front of Sarabia Pawnshop and Jewelry on JM Basa Street.
Charchel Liza, a resident of Bingawan, Iloilo, fled after firing his 12-gauge shotgun on Jackel “Ontoy” Billena of Maasin, Iloilo.
Billena died while being rushed to St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo.
From what the investigators of Police Station 1 so far gathered, Liza and Billena had a heated argument prior to the shooting.
“Nagbina-isay sila asta nagsingki kag amo to, natiruhan sang suspek ang biktima,” said Police Officer 3 Alberto Espinosa.
The shooting took place in front of Carlos Bakeshop adjacent to Sarabia Pawnshop and Jewelry.
Billena died of a gunshot wound in his abdomen. He was the personal driver of Mrs. Espinosa.
A source told Panay News Billena was fond of taunting Liza.
“Siguro napunô na gid siya (Liza) sang kaakig kay Ontoy,” said the source.
Responding policemen recovered from the crime scene an empty shell of a 12-gauge shotgun.
