ILOILO City – This city continues to attract more investment opportunities, fueling its economic growth for the next years, said Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.

Mabilog, in his speech during the switch-on ceremony of Panay Energy Development Corp.’s clean-coal power plant in Barangay Ingore, La Paz district, disclosed that the project is a testament of the city’s growing reputation as an ideal investment destination.

Mabilog added that Ilonggos are now enjoying the “steady stream” of investments as these provide jobs and livelihood opportunities.

“There is a boom in the real estate industry [and] business process outsourcing sector of which I think we have 45 [companies], providing about 22,000 seats in the business process outsourcing industry,” he said.

Mabilog furthermore noted that he has presented the power plant investment during the LGU Business Summit organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines on Nov. 22 at the Marriot Hotel, Pasay City.

“Representatives from the European Council were asking me on what businesses and investments that they can bring to both the province and city of Iloilo,” he revealed. “More investments mean more jobs, more dynamic socio-economic opportunities for our people and the residents of nearby municipalities.”/PN
