ILOILO City – Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog called on the public to help make sure the 2017 Dinagyang Festival is free from crimes, drugs and cigarette smoke.

Making Dinagyang drug- and crime-free is in line with the thrust of President Rodrigo Duterte, Mabilog said during yesterday’s “Pamukaw.”

The mayor stressed the city also seeks to maintain its “smoke-free” status.

During the Pamukaw, 10 groups joining the ati tribes competition this January gave the public a “sneak peak” of their performance at the Freedom Grandstand.

The participating tribes included Buntatalanit, Salognon, Dagatnon, Panayanon, Pan-ay, Obreros, Abiador, Ilonganon, Amihan, and Paghidaet.

Their performances mostly depicted the lives of early settlers in Panay before this part of the country was invaded by the Spaniards. (PNA)
