BACOLOD City – Charges were already filed against Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) officials over alleged “unused excessive contracted power,” the National Electrification Administration (NEA) said.
The NEA was reacting to a letter-request the Task Force Crusaders have sent.
Aside from the NEA, the task force working under the Office of the Solicitor General asked the Department of Energy, Energy Regulatory Commission and the Office of the President to look into Ceneco’s “power oversupply contracting.”
The task force’s Acting National Commander John Chiong said they received a letter-complaint from a concerned Bacolod resident “representing Ceneco consumers.”
Administrative cases were already filed before the NEA against Ceneco’s directors led by president Arnel Lapore and general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr., said NEA administrator Edgardo Masongsong.
The charges were for “conduct prejudicial to the interest of the electric cooperative and its member-consumers, falsification of documents, dishonesty, gross misconduct, gross incompetence, and gross neglect of duty,” Masongsong said.
A preliminary conference has been held, and the parties were ordered to file their respective position papers, he said.
Masongsong assured the task force these cases “will be resolved with dispatch” and afford the parties their right to due process./PN
