ILOILO City – Two retired police officers were tasked to keep the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) peaceful and orderly.
Discussions in the city council can be heated at times and debates may go overboard and get physical, explained Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo, SP floor leader.
Former police chief inspector Dionisio Duco was appointed sergeant-at-arm and former police senior inspector Santos Dagandara his assistant.
“You can never tell what will happen,” said Peñaredondo, noting that some issues in the SP could be contentious.
The appointments of Duco and Dagandara were confirmed by the SP on Dec. 15.
According to Peñaredondo, Duco and Dagandara were expected to make sure no violence happens inside the SP session hall.
“Sila ma-intervene kun mag inaway kag dapat wala sumbaganay ukon habuyanay. Nagahanâ pa lang, dapat mapatunga na sila,” he stressed.
Peñaredondo described Duco and Dagandara as highly respected when still in the police service./PN
