SAN JOSE, Antique – Some P9 million will be poured into a medical assistance program for poor Antiqueños, Rep. Paolo Everardo Javier disclosed.

Another P3 million will be used to enroll non-PhilHealth members into the insurance agency, the congressman said.

Of the medical assistance program allocation, P5 million will be downloaded to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in February 2017, Javier told a news conference in Barangay Odiong, Sibalom town.

The remaining amount will be divided between the Western Visayas Medical Center and the West Visayas State University Medical Center, both in Iloilo City.

Javier also said he was willing to assist the more than 600 barangay nutrition scholars appealing for an increase in honorarium.

During a summit at the EBJ Gymnasium on Dec. 15, National Nutrition Council deputy executive director Azucena Dayanghirang urged the scholars to start a signature campaign on their petition and file it before Javier’s office.

“I understand that it is to be deliberated in the House,” the congressman said. “If ever there is a request for me to sponsor or push for it, I am more than willing to do it.” (PNA)
