ILOILO City – To promote entrepreneurship and ease the process of doing business, 31 Negosyo Centers have been established in Western Visayas.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 6 said the establishments of the centers support the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.
First launched in Western Visayas in 2014, nine centers were established by the DTI in the region in 2015. This year, 21 centers were opened.
The Negosyo Centers which were opened this year are in Mambusao, Pontevedra and Sigma in Capiz; Numancia, Ibajay and Altavas in Aklan; Valderrama, Pandan, Tibiao and Caluya in Antique; Buenavista in Guimaras Island; Concepcion, Miag-ao, Pavia and Lambunao in Iloilo; and San Carlos City, Victorias City, Hinigaran town, La Carlota City and Bacolod City in Negros Occidental.
The Negosyo Center provides services such as business registration assistance, business advisory services, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of processes. It helps entrepreneurs to transact easier and faster to start and register their businesses at the local level.
The MSME sector – which comprises over 90 percent of the total registered businesses in the Philippines – is considered a big economic driver by creating more jobs and uplifting the lives of the people. (With a report from DTI/PN)
