BACOLOD City – Police in Negros Island Region are zeroing in on loose firearms in the days leading to the new year.
They are also strictly enforcing Republic Act 7183, or the Act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, according to the regional police spokesperson.
Christmas celebrations across the region had been generally peaceful; no major incidents happened, said Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral.
Catedral said they applied tight security measures during Christmas and will do the same in view of the New Year celebration.
She reiterated that the country remains under a state of emergency on account of lawless violence and that the Philippine National Police is still under “terror alert level 3.”/PN
