MANILA – Days after securing the services of Mika Reyes, the Petron Tri-Activ Spikers has made another splash after signing up four University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses stars.
Joining the Tri-Activ Spikers fray are Cherry Rondina, Marivic Meneses and veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan. The team also signed up Carmela Tunay for the Philippine Superliga Invitational Cup.
Rondina, Meneses, Dimaculangan, and Tunay will thus join another former Golden Tigresess star in Ilongga Aiza Maizo-Pontillas over at the Ceseal delos Santos-mentored squad.
A Tri-Activ Spikers official told Panay News that the team’s off-season acquisitions was the response to the marching orders of the San Miguel Corporation after placing second in the 2016 Grand Prix tournament.
Other members of the Tri-Activ Spikers team are Shiela Pineda, Jennylyn Reyes and Frances Xinia Molina. Like Rondina and Meneses, Negrense Bernadeth Pons, Kyle Negrito and Mary Remy Palma will join the team after the UAAP season.
The Tri-Activ Spikers last bagged a PSL championship during the 2015 All-Filipino Conference when the team listed a historic 13-0 season behind Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Abigail Maraño and Rachel Anne Daquis.
The team also won the 2014 PSL Grand Prix trophy behind Santiago-Manabat, Gretchen Ho and reinforcements Erica Adachi of Brazil and Alaina Bergsma of the United States./PN
