ILOILO City – Policemen apprehended two men transporting lumber without a permit in Barangay Manangopaya, Banate, Iloilo.
The following were detained at the Banate police station on Tuesday:
* Roseller Patrimonio, 47, of Barangay Camiri, San Enrique, Iloilo, and
* Jonathan Abada, 36, of Barangay Rumagayray, San Enrique, Iloilo.
The two were caught around 7:15 p.m. They were hauling lumber to a truck.
They should have sought a permit from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of Banate, police said.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has time and again reminded all those engaged in selling lumber products including charcoal, to get legal transport permit to avoid confiscations.
It is a must to keep track of the source of forest products and ensure environmental protection and conservation, according to DENR./PN
