THE UNITED Kingdom and the United States of America are seeing increasing reports of measles infections, as a result of decreasing levels of vaccinations.
Despite the proclamations of so many lately, often online, vaccinations work and are needed.
Although measles is rarely fatal, it is dangerous and easily spread. From my own experience in the 1960s it is best avoided.
The real concern is that there are many more serious illnesses that vaccinations prevent, including polio which can cause permanent paralysis.
Take your vaccinations, make sure your family gets them and trust science.

The past illustrates what the future should be
The interview by YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen, always worth a visit, with Barack Obama highlights the way many Americans see the current actions of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Something that should be condemned and actively protested against.
There is far more to the interview but it is refreshing to see a direction to a better future, even if it has to be on hold for another three years.
It’s a pity that he can’t serve for a third term.

He is actually transparent
US Attorney General Pam Bondi has stated that President Donald Trump is the “most transparent President in the nation’s history” and she is right, we can see right through him.
Wikipedia tells us that “the attorney general is seventh in the presidential line of succession.” I always thought seven was a lucky number but maybe I was wrong.

Slips ups
The Winter Olympics seem to be getting more coverage for “cheating” than for competing.
There was the weirdest ever form of cheating, “Penisgate”, followed by the more traditional approach of cheating on a girlfriend, now ex-girlfriend, by Norway’s Sturla Holm Laegreid. He used his bronze medal interview to beg her to return to him. Desperate but doubtful.
There have been a number of downhill fails here although this is only a broken heart, not a bone. If they are the best their countries have to offer then we should start to wonder about the future of these countries, especially their athletes?
