A damaged and perverted psyche

The Filipinos do not really need ABS-CBN. It does not produce goods or food. It has certainly entertained millions but it did not diminish poverty. Again, freedom worked for the rich—but not for the Filipinos… – F.Sionil Jose National Artist for Literature

IN 1986 Cory Aquino sequestered the newspaper Daily Express, television stations IBC 13 and RPN 9, including all their radio stations and provincial stations, effectively displacing and affecting thousands of regular employees of these media networks nationwide. Now more than 30 years after, the surviving employees are still suffering with unpaid back wages and benefits, yet nobody shouted “assault on press freedom.”

I’m guessing it’s okay because Saint Cory did it and it’s not okay for the National Telecommunications Commission to prevent ABS-CBN from using public frequency because their franchise expired.

They all cried when ABS-CBN’s franchise expired and was not renewed without the faintest idea that a franchise is a privilege and not a right.

This group of islands or archipelago called the Republic of the Philippines is not a country with a sense of nationalism and patriotism, but islands that is home to natives with a damaged and perverted psyche. Their sense of nationalism is totally perverted. Sometimes I do not know if the natives even know the meaning of that word.

While most of the natives have damaged and perverted psyche, hypocrisy and stupidity here are not just the “new normal” rather they are the “normal”.

I’ve been saying before that this is perhaps the only country in the world where the ambition of the average native is to be a citizen of another country. The preferred country of choice is the United States of America and acquiring a “green card” is akin to achieving orgasm without the benefit of having sex.

The favourite sport in these islands is basketball, a game normally for people with the average height of six feet and five inches while the average height of the natives is five feet and five inches.

It is the dream of every wannabe basketball player in these islands to play “above the rim” and dunk like LeBron James, good luck with that; the doorway is even taller than the average male native.

But itss not so bad here. The Philippines has probably one of the longest coastlines in the world and that means a lot of white-sand beaches in the tropical setting. The thing is the natives have this filthy habit of throwing their shit, and I literally mean shitting into the nearest body of water be it the sea or a river. Kook what they did to the Pasig River and Manila Bay.

I must say this: Iloilo City is way much better than Manila, at least the natives of Iloilo got their shit together and cleaned the shit from the Iloilo River, making it one of the cleanest urban bodies of water.

Meanwhile, amid the COVID-19 pandemic “I Am Iloilo City” is handling it relatively well, thanks to the leadership of Mayor Geronimo despite frequent servings of “mango jam.”

In most First World countries they are still having some difficulties integrating their mentally-challenged citizens into mainstream society but they are getting there.

Here in the Philippines we are much better off than them, we elect them into public office and let Congress take care of them.

We even elected one for President and Noynoy Aquino served a full six-year term without any interruptions. That’s how kind we are as a people. I sincerely hope Noynoy has been fully rehabilitated without doing further damage to this country.

So if Cuba is the country with the best public health and education system in the world, the Philippine has the best mental healthcare system and we call these institutions the House of Representatives and the Senate. But for really extreme cases, we make them Presidents, i.e. Noynoy Aquino.

It is only in the Philippines where in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic when we all need to come together and fight as one our senators and congressmen, save for a few, are nowhere to be found. But when ABS-CBN’s franchise expired and was not renewed, effectively stopping them from broadcasting, all the senators and congressmen suddenly appeared rushing forward to the rescue of that network.

To think it is not even a matter of national security and interest. But I suppose they were just thinking ahead because they might get a discount or free airtime come elections./PN
