IT WAS probably the stupidest picture I’ve seen on social media. There were some students at West Visayas State University (WVSU) wearing black t-shirts emblazoned with “Never Again to Martial Law”.
Are they aware that martial law is a provision in the Constitution and it is a legal instrument of the state to protect itself against invasion, rebellion and insurrection? Funny thing is they’re supposed to be law students.
Really, what they wanted to say was that they were against First Lady Atty. Liza Araneta Marcos teaching in the College of Law of WVSU. But they have no issue. You see, the First Lady is more than qualified so they bring out the usual “martial law” card nonsense.
As a student, you have no say on who your teacher will be or who the school chooses to teach. So if you don’t like Atty. Liza Araneta Marcos joining the faculty of the College of Law of WVSU, quite simple really – don’t go to school there. Nobody’s forcing you. The gall of some entitled fools to impose their will on the school!
Meanwhile, the First Lady gave 36 law students Huawei Mate pads and textbooks.
By the way, it was during the watch of then President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. that West Visayas State College became West Visayas State University. He approved its application to be a university. Along with state university status, the budget of the school was increased and the salaries of teachers and staff were also raised commensurate to university status. And that iconic “cultural center” prominent in the school’s campus was funded by then First Lady Imelda Marcos.
Now, the school has come full circle as the current First Lady will be a member of the faculty of the WVSU College of Law. The so-called wokes, social climbers and pseudo activists are squirming in their yellow and pink polka dots knickers at this bitter pill to swallow.
And we segue to more interesting stuff…
It’s now all over social and mainstream media. President Marcos has increased the current budget of NTF-ELCAC from P5.26 billion to P10 billion. I can imagine the usual suspects squirming in their knickers, particularly the party-list groups in Congress who fancy themselves the “Makabayan Bloc” but are aptly called KABAG – acronym for Kabataan, Anakpawis, Bayan Muna, Alliance of Concerned Teachers and Gabriela.
Fortunately for us, from six seats in the 18th Congress, KABAG was reduced to just three seats in the current 19th Congress. So now they’re aptly called KAGAT, the acronym for Kabataan, Gabriela and Alliance of Concerned Teachers.
I’m almost certain that these KAGAT in Congress will do everything they can to reduce if not defund the NTF-ELCAC which only means the insurgency is losing and hurting and the task force is successful.
And speaking of KAGAT, Raoul Manuel, a magna cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines Visayas and now Kabataan party-list representative said activist Lean Alejandro was a martyr because of the “Marcos dictatorship”.
Alejandro was assassinated in Sept. 19, 1987 and by then the Marcoses were already in exile…and guess who was the president then.
You know, if it was Leni Robredo who said that, I’ll probably understand. But a magna cum laude graduate from the University of the Philippines? Ahay…
Meanwhile, some madre de cacaos were caught red-handed by the Department of Justice fraternizing with the enemies of the state. Excerpts from an Aug. 16, 2022 article on CNN Philippines:
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged 16 individuals, including four nuns, for allegedly financing the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its armed wing, the New People’s Army (NPA).
DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano on Monday said the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) investigated the bank accounts of the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines (RPM). The agency said the inquiry found that the 16 indicted members of the RPM allegedly used projects to provide financial support to the CPP-NPA.
The AMLC’s witnesses said the RPM proposes projects to foreign funders who will send money to the organization once proposals are approved, but only 40% of the fund is allocated for each project.
The RPM is allegedly “related to the financing of terrorism and/or they are utilized as a conduit to facilitate the commission of financing terrorism,” the AMLC said, quoting the sworn statements of two former CPP-NPA members.
They were indicted for violating Section 8 of the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012, which is punishable by 40 years imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P1,000,000. It is a non-bailable case.
Being a madre or padre de cacao does not exempt one from the law if you’re caught aiding and abetting the enemies of the state./PN
