Abduction, molestation suspect stabbed inside police station

BACOLOD City – An arrested soldier, suspect in an alleged abduction and molestation of a 17-year-old girl with special needs, was stabbed by the girl’s relative at a police station here.

Major Sherlock Gabana, Police Station 2 chief, said 32-year-old Deo Balangen was rushed to the Riverside Medical Center after incurring stab wounds on the chest and back.

According to Gabana, while the suspect was undergoing documentation procedures, a woman identified as 24-year-old Pamela Mabaguiao – the victim’s cousin – suddenly lunged at Balangen and stabbed him with a pair of scissors.

Policemen immediately intervened and stopped Mabaguiao, said Gabana.

Balangen wounds were minor. As of this writing he was receiving medical treatment.

Mabaguiao, meanwhile, admitted stabbing the suspect, stating that she “wanted to express her anger to the suspect for the pain and misery he caused to her cousin.”

Mabaguiao was detained in the lockup cell of Police Station 2.

Earlier, Balangen – resident of La Trinidad, Benguet, and temporarily resides in Barangay 4 – was arrested on Saturday evening.

According to police reports, the suspect was on board a color green Mitsubishi vehicle when he grabbed the victim who was walking along Purok Saylan at 8:45 p.m. in Barangay 4. He then forced the victim to go inside the vehicle and allegedly molested the girl.

Gabana said some of the bystanders saw the vehicle parked in the area and when they checked, they saw the suspect along with the victim inside the car.

Police recovered from Balengen’s possession were a .9mm-caliber gun with two magazines and live bullets.

The suspect was previously assigned from 94th Infantry Battalion and was transferred to 3rd Infantry Division’s camp in Amindan, Capiz – but failed to report and temporarily stayed here in Bacolod.
