About 200 erring drivers in Boracay apprehended

BORACAY – Almost 200 drivers have been arrested in this island resort for various violations.

The Land Transportation Office Region 6 was intensifying its crackdown against erring drivers and operators in the island with the help of the Metro Boracay Police Task Force.

LTO enforcers have apprehended 188 drivers with motor vehicles for various violations from Nov. 26 to 29.

They have impounded multi-cabs, motor tricycles, motorcycles, and drop-side vehicles. These vehicles were transported to the outer border of the island.

Their violations included the following:

* no seatbelt

* no helmet

* failure to carry certificate of registration/LTO official receipt

* expired driver’s license

* unlicensed driver

* delinquent registration

* unregistered vehicle

* no early warning device

* no attached registration plate

* no side mirrors

LTO Law Enforcement Service chief Edrex Rey Luz recently discussed the deputation of enforcers in Boracay for the enforcement of Republic Act 4136, or the Land Transportation Act and Traffic Code, with Superintendent Lavis Camdas, Metro Boracay Police Task Force executive officer for administration, and Marlon Velez, chief of LTO Kalibo District Office.
