ARTIFICIAL Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming many fields of healthcare, and dentistry is no exception.
By combining advanced algorithms, machine learning, and large datasets, AI is reshaping how dental professionals diagnose, treat, and manage oral health conditions. From improving diagnostic accuracy to enhancing patient experiences, AI is becoming a powerful tool in modern dentistry.
One of the most significant contributions of AI in dentistry is in diagnosis and imaging. AI-powered software can analyze dental X-rays, CBCT scans, and intraoral images with remarkable precision. These systems help dentists detect cavities, gum disease, bone loss, and even early signs of oral cancer at stages that might be difficult to identify with the naked eye.
By highlighting potential problem areas, AI acts as a clinical decision-support tool, reducing the risk of missed diagnoses and improving overall treatment outcomes.

Despite its many advantages, the integration of AI in dentistry comes with challenges. Data privacy, ethical considerations, and the need for high-quality datasets are major concerns.
Dentists must also receive proper training to understand and effectively use AI tools without over-reliance on technology. Importantly, AI should be seen as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for clinical expertise and human judgment.
