KALIBO, Aklan – Gymnasts from Aklan province collected three bronze medals for Western Visayas in the ongoing 2017 Palarong Pambansa in Antique.
Christian Jade Pablo scored 11.30 during the individual boys event at Binirayan Sports Complex.
Pablo of the Conferey Integrated Learning School in Malay town scored 6.95 in artistic, 4.8 in execution and 0.55 in difficulty, with a one-point deduction.
James Arroyo of Negros Island Region scored 13.45 for the gold, while Jhon Jeoffrey Canones of National Capital Region (NCR) settled for silver with 13.125.
In the distaff side, Jea Angel Esquelito of Western Visayas also finished third with 11.95 points behind the gold medal-worthy effort of Sabrina Belandres of NCR with 13.075. Amanda Ray Rosco of Negros grabbed the silver in the eight-girl field with 11.975.
Esquelito of Caticlan Elementary School in Malay scored high in artistic with 7.15 points, 4.25 for execution and 0.55 for difficulty.
Pablo, Esquelito and Cherish Joy Reyes, also from Caticlan Elementary School, won the bronze medal in the trio category, with a final score of 12.25 points.
Aero gymnastics was introduced as a demonstration sport for the first time in the 60th edition of the national multisport event.
Aerobic gymnastics or sport aerobics is a competitive sport originating from traditional aerobic in which complex, high-intensity movement patterns and elements of varying difficulty are performed with music. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
