AKLAN – Four hospitals in Aklan are set to receive a total of P17.6 million from the Department of Health (DOH) under the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) Program, which aims to support patients who struggle to afford medical care.
During the regular session of the Aklan Sangguniang Panlalawigan on Wednesday, November 26, board members approved a resolution authorizing Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the DOH–Western Visayas Center for Health Development for the implementation of the program.
Based on the allocation data, the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital (DRSTMH) will receive the largest share amounting to P12,520,000.
Meanwhile, Ibajay District Hospital is set to receive P3 million, Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital in Malay will get P2 million, and Godofredo P. Ramos Hospital in Altavas will receive P150,000.
According to the DOH, the MAIFIP program is designed to ease the financial burden of patients with limited means and ensure that every Filipino—especially those classified as indigent—has access to essential medical services./PN
