AN AKLANON jumper gave Western Visayas a silver medal in the 2018 National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Meet in San Jose, Antique.

Jello Prado of Buruanga, Aklan won second in men’s high jump with 1.8 meters. National Capital Region’s Alvin Arcenio won gold with 1.85m while Jaylord Ardango of Region 2 and Jubile Alarcon of Region 3 got bronze.

“Thank you so much Lord for another achievement! 2nd placer in high jump event! Proud to be region VI [sic],” the Aklan State University standout wrote on Facebook.

NCR later on Tuesday clinched a second gold medal in women’s 100m hurdles with Josefina Tjay Balocoy topping the event with 15.40 seconds. Rea Begornio of Region 3 and Cristel Pascual of NCR claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

Ma. Josephine Maloloy-on of Region 4 topped women’s 30m archery with 160 points. Kate Calderon of Region 3 won silver with 159 points and Keith Arguelles of Region 4, bronze, 157 points.

Region 4’s second gold medal came in women’s shot put with Joedelyn Quijaro and her 10.8m posting. Janna Marie Quinto of Region 1 had 9.65m for silver and Mary Belin Femer of Region 9, 9.15m, bronze.

Region 3 swept men’s 30m archery – Darelle Dela Cruz won gold with 161 points; Rommil Onarse, silver, 160 points; and Angelo Carl De Castro, bronze, 159 points.

In athletics, Erlindo Pianilla of Region 7 topped men’s 5k run with Requi Trupa of Region 3 and James Galina of Region 1 taking home the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

On the distaff side, Esterlita Orgarda of Region 1 captured gold; Region 5’s Jenelyn Florendo, silver; and Marjorie Zamora, bronze./PN
