Aklan’s Investment and Trade Center ‘nearly complete’

KALIBO, Aklan – The Aklan provincial government said the Investment and Trade Center, which hopes to lure more investors in the province, is nearly complete.

Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo, former congresswoman and now consultant on tourism and investment of the province, said the structure at the Aklan Provincial Capitol is now at 70-percent complete.

The state-of-the-art center, which has an allocation of P50-million, started its construction last year. Its budget allocation came from the funds of former Sen. Loren Legarda which was then the chair on the committee of finance.

“The center includes data on the fisheries and agriculture which would serve as a one stop shop of information for potential investors in the province and in Boracay Island,” Quimpo said.

The investment center plans to lure Business Process Outsourcing in the province.

These companies include Yellow Cab Pizza and Max Restaurant among others.

“They will soon open their branches in Mabini Street, Kalibo. We have already coordinated this with the chief executive of Kalibo,” added Quimpo./PN
