AKLAN – Authorities apprehended the province’s sixth most wanted individual for murder during an intensified manhunt operation carried out on Wednesday evening, June 25.

The 28-year-old alias “Mer-mer”, a resident of Barangay Fulgencio, Balete, Aklan, was caught around 7:20 p.m. in Barangay New Buswang, Kalibo.

His arrest was made by virtue of a warrant for murder, with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.

The operation was a joint effort by the Balete Municipal Police Station and the Aklan Police Provincial Office (PPO) tracker team.

Western Visayas police director, Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, lauded the successful operation and the collaboration that led to the suspect’s capture.

He also underscored the critical role of community support in law enforcement and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining peace and order across the region.

The suspect is now under police custody and will be turned over to the concerned court for proper disposition./PN
