ILOILO City – A total of 16 wanted persons were arrested across Western Visayas during a 24-hour manhunt operation.
Data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that from 6 a.m. of June 24 to 6 a.m. of June 25, various police units caught one suspect tagged as the No. 3 most wanted in Malay, Aklan and 15 others who were accused of lesser crimes.
Police said alias “Ted” was charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act and Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.
The suspect is now in police custody. The court recommended a P200,000 bail bond for violation of RA 10591 and P36,000 for gun ban offense, for his temporary freedom.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo City Police Office recorded the highest number of arrests with eight, followed by the Capiz Police Provincial Office (PPO) with four, Iloilo PPO (two), and Antique and Aklan PPOs (one each).
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan lauded the dedication and persistence of the tracker teams across Panay in the campaign against wanted persons and the untiring support of the community.
