BEFORE playing as import in a Chinese-Taipei league, Alyssa Valdez will first show her wares before Ilonggo and Bacolodnon volleyball fans as part of the two-day Premier Volleyball League on Tour next month.
Event organizer Ruding Villaruz told Panay News the four-time PVL Most Valuable Player and former Ateneo Lady Eagles star vowed to play for her mother club Creamline Cool Smashers during the exhibition matches.
“Alyssa (Valdez) has committed to play in the PVL on Tour in Iloilo and Bacolod,” Villaruz said. “Even if she is leaving for Chinese-Taipei early next month, she will come back for the exhibition match.”
Valdez, 24, agreed to play as import for Attack Line in the Chinese-Taipei league, which was set to begin in November.
It will be Valdez’s second time to play as import overseas. She previously suited up in Thailand for 3BB Nakornonnt, where she made valuable contributions despite her limited time on the floor.
Aside from Cool Smashers, also set to play in the exhibition match are All-Filipino Conference champions Bali Pure Water Defenders, Reinforced Conference titlist Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors and Perlas-BanKo Lady Spikers.
Villaruz said the two-day exhibition matches were rescheduled to Oct. 17 for the Iloilo leg and Oct. 18 for Bacolod due to the unavailability of venues for Nov. 3 and 4.
In August, Perlas-BanKo Lady Spikers and Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles also played in exhibition matches in Iloilo and Bacolod./PN
