ANTIQUE — The Municipality of Anini-y in Antique has been designated as the official site for the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) scheduled on November 24, 2025.
The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (OPDRRMO) will lead the drill, which will take place at the Anini-y municipal grounds and extend to nearby coastal barangays and the designated evacuation site. The activity seeks to simulate real-life emergency scenarios to strengthen community preparedness in the event of a major earthquake.
Anini-y was selected as this quarter’s NSED site due to its proximity to major fault lines, including the West Panay Fault, making it one of the municipalities most vulnerable to seismic activity. Officials noted that holding the drill in a high-risk area allows responders and residents to practice proper evacuation and response protocols in a realistic environment.
The province emphasized that the NSED serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of readiness and community resilience.
