SAN JOSE, Antique – Member-consumers of the Antique Electric Cooperative (Anteco) were advised to save electricity following an 83-centavo increase in the October power bill.
The October bill is expected to increase from last month’s P10.42 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to this month’s P11.26 per kWh.
Anteco attributed the upward rate adjustment to the increase in the generation charge, power charge, spot market prices, and the recovery charge for the incremental costs on fuel and foreign currency exchange incurred by the National Power Corporation from 2012 to 2014.
On June 20, the Energy Regulatory Commission approved an order authorizing the collection of approximately P158.5 million from Anteco member-consumers.
The order allows Anteco to charge its member-consumers an additional 28-centavo monthly fee to be collected for 60 months.
The transmission charge of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, system loss charge of generation and transmission companies and the value-added tax also contributed to the bill increase. (PIA/PN)
