SAN JOSE, Antique – The provincial government is celebrating the National Statistics Month with the theme, “Facts and Figures for the Future: Statistics for Evidenced-Based Decisions Toward AmBisyon Natin 2040.”
Supervising Statistical Specialist Randy Tacogdoy of the Philippine Statistics Authority said the celebration will focus on the importance of statistics in the attainment of Ambisyon Natin 2040.
Ambisyon Natin 2040 is a long-term vision of Filipinos which could be an anchor for development planning and guide for engaging with international development partners, according to the National Economic Development Authority.
Tacogdoy said the common vision of Filipinos is “matatag, maginhawa at panatag na buhay para sa lahat.”
The month-long celebration also features activities showing the importance of reliable data.
It aims to promote, enhance, and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the value of statistics to the different sectors of society, and to stimulate cooperation and support from the public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
The event kicked off with a caravan in this capital town and Sibalom, Antique.
An exhibit of the programs and accomplishments of various agencies in the province was also staged at the old capitol. (PIA/PN)
