ILOILO City – A gunrunning suspect was arrested in Barangay Jinalinan, Barbaza, Antique yesterday.

Franco Remo, 53, was taken to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) facility in Antique minutes after his house was raided around 5:45 a.m.

CIDG operatives recovered a .45 pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun and ammunitions.

Remo failed to present documents showing his legal ownership of the guns, said Senior Police Officer 3 Vicente Demandara of CIDG.

Judge Mario Andres of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 64 in San Jose, Antique issued the search warrant.

The CIDG sought for a search warrant after receiving reports of alleged indiscriminate firing at Remo’s house.

Demandara said they also received information that the suspect was into gunrunning but this needed verification.

Remo faces a charge for illegal gun possession./PN
