SAN JOSE, Antique – Indigent senior citizens in Antique have received monetary assistance from the provincial government through the “Kabalaka kang Gobernadora kay Lolo kag Lola” program.

A total of 382 individuals were given assistance from January to June this year. Records from the provincial government said a total of P942,000 was handed to the indigents.

The following age brackets of senior citizens received the corresponding financial help:

*80 – 89 years old – P2,000

*90 – 94 years old – P3,000

*95 – 99 years old – P5,000

*100 years old and up – P10,000

Meanwhile, the provincial government also has a program dubbed Aid to Individual in Crisis Situation. A total of 1,353 persons availed themselves of a total of P4,440,000 through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

In addition, the “Point of Care” program was also established. It targets the indigent patients of the Angel Salazar Jr. Memorial General Hospital.

The patients are given assistance in the billing and hospitalization expenses which gives them an automatic membership to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. where the premium is paid by the provincial government./PN
