SAN JOSE, Antique – The province of Antique was assessed on Friday for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
DILG Region 6 assistant director Maria Sardua led the regional assessment team.
The SGLG award was important, she said, because winning local government units could avail themselves of the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).
The DILG assessment team checked if the provincial government met four “core areas”:
* financial administration
* disaster preparedness
* social protection, and
* peace and order
Culture and arts, on the other hand, were the “essential areas” the assessors looked into for Antique since the province is known for producing musical and visual artists.
According to Sardua, a national validation team would visit the province, too.
The result would be out by October. (PNA)
