MANILA – The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) is set to finalize today the quarantine restrictions for Western Visayas for the remainder of July.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the taskforce will discuss the appeals of local government units (LGUs).
“The IATF has already submitted their recommendations on the new quarantine restrictions and the LGUs are given time (until Wednesday afternoon) to appeal,” Roque said in a virtual presser in Malacañang on Wednesday.
“The taskforce will meet to discuss the appeals before finalizing the recommendations to the President,” the Palace spokesperson added.
The initial IATF-MEID recommendation is for Iloilo city and province to be placed under the strictest enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
On the other hand, Bacolod City, Aklan, Antique, and Capiz will shifted to modified ECQ (MECQ) while Negros Occidental and Guimaras will stay under general community quarantine (GCQ).
Asked for the reason behind the recommendations, Roque said the taskforce based it on coronavirus disease 2019’s attack rate and healthcare utilization rate.
“Let’s just say (the IATF-EID) follows the established criteria of looking at attack rates, healthcare utilization rates with regards to the quarantine classifications,” Roque said./PN
