BACOLOD City – The city government encouraged businesspeople to get their business permit early and avail themselves of a 10-percent discount in the processing fee.

The Permits and Licensing Division (PLD) set up a Business One-Stop Shop for the application for or renewal of business permits at the Bacolod City Government Center. It will accommodate clients from Jan. 3 to 20.

The discount will only be until the 20th, stressed PLD head Stela Rose Rayos.

Agencies where businesses get permits are present at the One-Stop Shop: Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, and barangays (for barangay clearances), among others.

According to the city government, the One-Stop Shop will serve clients from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no noon break, Mondays through Fridays.

Yesterday, only 10 barangays were represented at the One-Stop Shop.

Some barangays will join the business permit processing today, Rayos said.

She assured that all villages were informed about the activity via the memo on streamlining the process in issuing business permits.

A 2016 government memorandum mandates all local government units and several government agencies to revise the standards in business permit and license processing.

Processing time for business registrations should not exceed one to two days for new business permit applications and one day for renewals, the memo stated.

In December 2016, Rayos said the city government has compressed the process from five to three steps.

Processing a business permit now includes the following steps:

1. File an application for business at the PLD.

2. One-time assessment of taxes, fees and charges at the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO).

3. One-time payment of taxes, fees and charges, and receipt of official receipt and claiming of the Mayor’s Permit and other regulatory permits and clearances at the CTO’s Cashier Section and the PLD./PN
