BACOLOD City – The P365-million flyover in Araneta and Magsaysay streets will be inaugurated today at 9 a.m.
Department and Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary Mark Villar and other DPWH officials will grace the inauguration.
Rep. Greg Gasataya said the recently completed flyover will help ease the traffic in the city and boost the local economy.
The Araneta-Magsaysay flyover – with a double-lane pavement with five spans of modular steel, four piers measuring 195 lineal meters and road approaches extending 280 meters – is the second flyover in the city.
The first is located in Lacson-Circumferential road at Bangga Pepsi in Barangay Bata. It was inaugurated on Aug. 19, 2011.
Gasataya added that he will request for the construction of another two flyovers in the city: one in Burgos-Circumferential Road and the other, in Bangga Cory in Barangay Mansilingan.
The Araneta-Magsaysay flyover’s construction started on the last week of March this year.
For his part, Mayor Evelio Leonardia thanked Gasataya for facilitating the completion of the flyover project, which he initiated when he was congressman in 2014./PN
