ILOILO City – Rey Selorio was wanted for violation of a forestry law, a police report showed.
Officers from the Arevalo police station served the 59-year-old a warrant of arrest at around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 30.
Selorio has been charged with violation of Presidential Decree (PD) 705, or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, the police report stated.
Molo police station took him in custody after his arrest in Barangay Santo Domingo, Arevalo where he also lived.
The bail bond for his temporary liberty was set at P44,000. It was not immediately clear as of this writing if the suspect has posted bail.
PD 705 penalizes the following, among others:
* cutting, gathering and/or collecting timber, or other forest products without license
* unlawful occupation or destruction of forest lands and grazing lands
* pasturing livestock without permit or license
* illegal occupation of national parks system and recreation areas and vandalism
* destruction of wildlife resources./PN
