BACOLOD City – A man and his son were facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
They were the 46-year-old Rommel Villarosa and son Romnick, 23, of Barangay Magballo, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod filed charges against the Villarosas after its personnel and officers from the CIDG-Negros Occidental, Negros Occidental Provincial Maneuver Force Company (4th Platoon), and Kabankalan City police station recovered from them several firearms and ammunition during a house raid around 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday.
Confiscated from the Villarosas were a 12-gauge shotgun with 19 live bullets and two empty shells, two .45-caliber pistols with two magazine and 55 live bullets, a grenade, a .9mm gun with one magazine and six live bullets, and a .38-caliber gun with six live bullets.
The raid was conducted on the strength of an arrest warrant, according to Senior Police Officer 3 Ramiro Gotucano of the CIDG.
According to police investigation, the Villrosas also run a gun business in the area.
The Villarosas were detained at the Kabanakalan City police station lockup facility./PN
