ILOILO City – Two gunmen on a motorcycle peppered with bullets a trisikad driver in Barangay Poblacion North, Oton, Iloilo around 10 a.m. yesterday.
The 62-year-old Eliseo Hemilla died at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district. He had six gunshot wounds.
Hemilla was waiting for his wife Zenaida to come out of a beauty parlor, according to Chief Inspector Dennis Pamonag, Oton police chief.
Two men on motorcycle stopped beside Hemilla’s trisikad and the back rider started shooting him.
Witnesses failed to take a good look at the men because both were wearing helmets.
But they said the back rider was wearing a white shirt and a pair of shorts. He also had a backpack.
The two men left after the shooting.
Policemen recovered from the crime scene empty bullet shells of a .45 pistol.
As of this writing, Oton police investigators did not have any suspects.
Pamonag said Hemilla was tagged in a murder case around 10 years ago but the case was settled.
“I don’t believe that murder case had something to do with the shooting. It happened a long time ago. There could be other reasons,” he said.
Police investigators would be talking to Hemilla’s wife as soon as she recovers from shock, said Pamonag./PN
