ILOILO City – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will reopen voter registration on November 10, giving eligible Filipinos nearly nine months to register or update their voting records ahead of the May 8, 2028 national and local elections.
The registration period, which runs until July 30, 2027, will accommodate first-time voters, transferees, and previously registered voters seeking reactivation or corrections to their records.
Comelec-Iloilo Province announced that registration services will be available Tuesdays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays and holidays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No registration will be conducted on Sundays, while Mondays are reserved for employees’ work-from-home arrangements under the agency’s energy conservation measures.
Applicants may register at the Office of the Election Officer covering their place of residence or through satellite and mall registration activities.
They may also avail themselves of Comelec’s Register Anywhere Program (RAP) and Special Register Anywhere Program (SRAP), subject to applicable guidelines.
Aside from first-time registration, Comelec will process applications for the transfer of voter records between localities, reactivation, change of name, correction of entries, inclusion or reinstatement of records, and transfer from overseas voting posts to local precincts.
The agency will also accommodate updates to the records of persons with disabilities, senior citizens, indigenous peoples, indigenous cultural communities, and other vulnerable sectors.
In Iloilo City, Election Officer Atty. Pinky Tentativa said preparations have been completed for the resumption of registration.
To accommodate more applicants, Comelec-Iloilo City will initially conduct registration at GT Mall in Molo district from November 10 to December 5, 2026.
Registration activities will subsequently transfer to the Comelec-Iloilo City office at the Integrated Field Office in Barangay Taal, Molo, from December 7 to 29.
Tentativa said the city election office will announce its registration schedule for 2027 separately.
She urged residents aged 18 and above who have yet to register, as well as those who will turn 18 on or before election day on May 8, 2028, to take advantage of the registration period.
The extended registration window is intended to give eligible voters sufficient time to secure their participation in the 2028 elections and avoid the last-minute rush traditionally associated with registration deadlines./PN
