ILOILO City – Farmers and women’s organizations including barangay officials and some residents of Barangay San Nicolas, Tapaz, Capiz benefited from the livelihood training of the Philippine Army.
Civil Military Operations Officer Captain Beejay Guadilla of the 3rd Field Artillery Battalion (3FAB), in a press release, said the livelihood seminar on mushroom culture and seedlings propagation were conducted in said barangay on Feb. 12.
Likewise, the participants were trained on detergent soap, fabric conditioner, dishwashing liquid, and perfume making.
The participants to the livelihood training were members of the Samahang Magbubukid ng San Nicolas, San Nicolas Local Farmers Association, San Nicolas Women’s sector, San Nicolas barangay council and other stakeholders.
The program aimed to utilize the use of technology to boost productivity and enhance the local’s income.
“This training is also in support to the Department of Agriculture’s Program Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Laban sa COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019),” said Guadilla.
According to Guadilla, the program is the 3rd Infantry Division’s support campaign to establish a physically and psychologically secured environment conducive for development.
“Unity and empowerment are the keys to rise from any adversity. This trying time may extremely be distressful, but this should motivate us to endure and survive,” 3FAB Head Lieutenant Colonel Calixto Cadano Jr. said during the program.
He vowed that 3FAB, as partner for peace and development in Western and Central Visayas will continue to provide programs to support the productivity and development of every community especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. (PIA6)
