ILOILO City – In separate antidrug operations, the police caught two suspects in the Iloilo towns of Santa Barbara and Maasin. The busted men, however, denied selling shabu.
The 27-year-old Domingo “Saldy” Diaz of Zone 5, Santa Barbara was arrested around 11 p.m. on Oct. 9 after selling a plastic sachet of shabu for P200 to an undercover police officer.
But Diaz denied selling shabu.
“Tani indi amo na. Ang insakto nga pulis (ma)dakop sang inskato,” said Diaz in a television interview.
He was detained at the Santa Barbara police station.
Around 9:20 p.m. that same day, the Maasin police station and Regional Public Safety Battalion arrested Roland Capanang, 31, of Barangay Bolong Este, Santa Barbara.
Like Diaz, Capanang denied he was peddling shabu.
The buy-bust operation was conducted in Barangay Tubang, Maasin.
Police officers were able to recover three plastic sachets of shabu from Capanang.
The suspects face a charge for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
