BACOLOD City – Security personnel of the Bacolod City Government Center and private establishments had undergone a seminar on bombs at city hall on Thursday.
Conducted by the Police Regional Office 18’s Intelligence Division, the seminar was part of preparations for the city’s hosting of an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit meeting this month.
Senior Superintendent Hector Maestral, the division chief, discussed “Explosives, IED Awareness and Bomb Threat Management.”
Participants were grouped into two. Personnel of the Public Order and Safety Office and city hall utility personnel attended the morning session, while representatives from private establishments that will accommodate Asean delegates attended the afternoon session.
The seminar focused on the standard operating procedures that establishments should employ if untoward incidents like bomb threats or bomb explosions arise.
Maestral said that the seminar is an important requirement for the hosting of the Asean meeting and that it is also timely, what with the recent bomb threats that turned out to be hoaxes. (Bacolod City PIO/PN)
