KALIBO, Aklan – Winners of some of Ati-Atihan Festival’s street dancing contests will perform in Guimaras this May, according to the Kalibo Santo Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi).
Kasafi chairman Albert Menez said they will be sending 120 tribe members to participate in Guimaras’ invitational cultural presentation on May 20, which is a part of the island province’s 25th Manggahan Festival.
Ati-atihan Festival will be represented by its sadsad contest winners including this year’s tribal big champion Vikings and 1st runner-up Black Beauty Boys and modern group champion Royal Scorpio and 1st runner-up Aeang-Aeang.
This will be the second consecutive year that Ati-Atihan Festival will participate in the Manggahan festivities to be held in Jordan, Guimaras.
Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival and Bacolod City’s MassKara Festival will also join the cultural presentation.
The theme for this year’s Manggahan Festival is “Bugana: Celebrating the Silver Glory of Manggahan Festival.” (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
